Infectious diarrheal diaseases in children

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2009

Abstract

Infectious diarrheal diseases are among the most common childhood diseases. In recent years, there has been a significant change in their etiology.

Not only is the total number of bacterial diarrhea decreasing, but their spectrum is also changing. Previously very common serious infections caused by enteropatopathogenic Escherichia coli are rare, with a significant decline in recent years in the still dominant salmonellosis and last year in campylobacteriosis.
