Abstract

Transurethral resection of bladder cancer (TURB) is the initial and critical step in the management of bladder tumors. The optimal outcomes can be achieved by systematically and meticulously performed procedure by well trained urologist.

The TURB should be performed with modern equipment including new telescopes and video systems. Moreover, urologists should be aware of promising innovations including new imaging techniques (fluorescence cystoskopy or narrow band imaging) and their possible benefits.

The risk of tumor persistence and understaging can be in selected cases reduced by re-TUR.
