Abstract

Urolithiasis is one of the most common diseases of civilization. It affects 1-5% of the population of industrialized countries.

According to European studies, urolithiasis occurs in up to 15% of the population that will live to be 70 years old. The annual incidence is between 0.5-1% according to the same authors.

Most patients who develop urolithiasis are at risk for recurrence, up to 80% in untreated individuals.
