Purulent meningitis of the youngest age groups

Publication at Second Faculty of Medicine |
2006

Abstract

Purulent meningitis of the youngest age groups differs from adulthood not only in the spectrum of infectious agents, but also in the clinical picture and complications. At the same time, it is in the age group of newborns and infants that meningitis reaches the highest specific morbidity and mortality.

The incidence of purulent meningitis in children has changed in recent years with the availability of vaccination against the most common pathogens.
