Rapidly increasing numbers of dementia cases worldwide leads to a situation where all fields of medicine are being "invaded", so to speak, by this topic. Therefore, in our review, we focus primarily on early detection of the dementia syndrome and on its complex diagnostics.
Also, we also give a brief review of the options in dementia treatment, including pharmacotherapy and non-pharmacological approaches, with emphasis on caregivers' support. We present the available findings regarding prevention of dementia and cognitive deficits.
