Abstract
The incretins are hormones secreted by intestinal cells in response to prandial stimulus. The main mechanisms that affect glucose homeostasis, are affecting the secretion of insulin-dependent glucose levels, postprandial suppression of glucagon secretion and gastric emptying effect.
