The further Development of the Czech Dermatovenereology, or how it was after Kraus: Josef Čejka and his Role in Czech Dermatovenereology

Abstract

The first medical school at the Charles - Ferdinand University (founded 1348) in Prague started to develop at the turn of the 30s and 40s years of the 19th centrury. On this basis the Medical Journal "Vierteljahrschift für die praktische Heilkunde" with original articles of the Prague professors was founded in 1844.

Czech - born Josef Čejka (1812-1862) was the head of the department of skin diseases in general hospital in Prague and he successfully led the department until his death.
