Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) is a chronic and progressive disease. This definition conditions some of the basic obstacles that pharmacological therapy of DM2 must face in real practice.

The chronicity of the disease results in a potentially poor long-term cooperation of the patient in treatment, his willingness to take medication regularly, especially if pharmacological therapy is accompanied by side effects.
