Abstract

"The textbook is designed for hands-on practice of artificial nutrition for students of second Faculty of Medicine. The general part introduces the basic concepts and themes of nutrition (energy metabolism, substrates, physiology and pathophysiology in relation to artificial nutrition, principles of artificial enteral nutrition and parenteral, practical guides for home artificial nutrition, collateral venous access and proper care, the role of nurses in the provision of artificial nutrition, specific artificial nutrition in patients at an early age, an overview of preparations for artificial nutrition on the market).

A special section deals with nutrition in selected diseases (nutritional support kidney disease, cancer, diabetes mellitus, gastrointestinal disease, pulmonary disease, anorexia nervosa, patients with cerebral vascular events, perioperative nutritional interventions, immunonutrition, prevention of malnutrition)."
