The article try to demonstrate the contemporary state of quantification of the training effects, from the personal exeperience, subjective self-estimation of the atlete, persieved exertion, the use of questionnaires to the monitoring some physiologic parameters as heart rate, lactate concentration, oxygen consumption and othres. A modern approach is to adopt scientific methods in the development of optimal training programmes.
But today no single physiological marker has been identified that can measure the fitness and fatigue response to exercise and predict the performance.
