Atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the most common chronic skin diseases. The atopy patch tests (APT) are considered to be the useful addition to standard testing procedure for identification of aeroallergens eliciting the appearance of eczema in AD patients.

The first results of APT in the Czech Republic were performed in 57 patients. The series of aeroallergens (Stallergens, France) were used as for patch testing.

All patients had a history of eczema or history for atopy. 24 patients (42.1%) had one or more positive reactions for APT. The most common positive reactions were Dermatophagoides pteronyssimus and D. farinae.

The APT seems to be a valuable additional tool in the diagnostic work-up of aeroallergy in patients with AD especially with regard to late-phase clinical reactions.
