Author of this review article compares the recommendations of the global recommendation of Global Iniciative against Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease ( GOLD) edition from 2009 with the latest version from 2010. The main novelty is the inclusion of inhibitors phosphodiesteraze 4 between the drugs suitable for patients with stage III. and IV. of COPD according to GOLD, with signs of chronic bronchitis and frequent exacerbations.
In recent guidelinesmay be found the emphasis on rehabilitation, which should last at least 6 weeks. In conclusion, the author recommends a detailed study of the new recommendations, in order to improve diagnosis and treatment of patients with COPD.
