Abstract
In the Czech Republic, more than 800,000 people can be affected by this disease. The most severe stage of the disease affects more than 30,000 citizens, who will gradually be dependent on oxygen, difficult and expensive lung surgery, or even lung transplantation.
The cost of treating these patients consumes up to 80% of all public health insurance costs for the treatment of COPD patients.
