Abstract

Definition of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) undergoing continuous development. The definition can be divided into two groups.

The COPD is seen either as a disorder or a disease. The difference lies in the fact that the definitions based on the fact that COPD is a disorder resulting situation is underlined (continuous irreversible obstruction), irrespective of disease that this target has led the state (no distinction is made whether the obstruction was persistent asthma, chronic bronchitis or emphysema).

The definitions of COPD, which is regarded as a disease, is emphasized morphological aspect of diseases that lead to permanent irreversible obstruction. These definitions need not pass a permanent obstruction, but the destination of the disease.
