Abstract

Clostridium difficile is presently the most common cause of in-hospital intestinal infections. The primary susceptible populations are the higher age groups and chronically ill patients.

Occurence and spread of epidemic, hyper-virulent strains of Clostridium difficile is considered to be the primary reason for the adverse situation we are dealing with a present.
