Abstract

Co-administration of long-acting β2-mimetics and inhaled corticosteroids has been shown in the past to be an effective treatment for patients with bronchial asthma, as a significantly enhanced bronchodilator and anti-inflammatory effect has been observed with this combination. Recently, fixed combinations of both of these drug groups, budesonide / formoterol or fluticasone / salmeterol, have been commonly available on the market.
