Abstract
Insulin plays a crucial role in carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism. Insulin therapy is provided in different insulin regimens, the best one would mimic the physiological insulin secretion.
Insulin preparations are solutions of human insulin with different time of effect or solutions of insulin analogues - preparations of insulin with slightly changed structure that causes their different qualities. Only injections are able to deliver insulin at this time but alternative delivery systems are tested, the inhaled insulin could be soon available for diabetic patients.
