Importance of the screening of vascular complications in a young female patient with type 1 diabetes mellitus

Abstract

The case describes a surprising contribution of ischemia of lower extremities on a development of the diabetic foot syndrome in a young female patient with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Following a long-term poor metabolic compensation a significant atherosclerosis of the peripheral arteries with the diabetic foot syndrome manifested at her age of 42.
