The place of antibiotics in the treatment of acute respiratory infections

Abstract

Respiratory infections are among the most common infections ever. Almost every person experiences more trivial infections of the respiratory tract several times a year.

Their etiology is predominantly viral. Nevertheless, their consumption of antibiotics is enormous and often superfluous.

The following communication should contribute to a better understanding of these diseases, their differential diagnosis, and above all help in deciding whether or not to indicate antibiotics.
