Abstract
In majority of HIV positive patients, syphilis is manifested in the same way as in HIV negative ones, however, this combination might alter the course of both infections. HIV infection might accelerate the course of syphilis and on the contrary syphilis could cause HIV infection progression.
Article monitors the alteration of syphilis clinical course in HIV positive patients, points out the pitfalls of serologic diagnosis and evaluates the effectivity of treatment regimens.
