Duloxetine is a dual serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor at the nerve synapse, and together with venlafaxine and milnacipran, it belongs to a new class of antidepressants, now commonly referred to as SNRIs (serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors). However, duloxetine has been shown to be effective not only in depressive disorders but also in the treatment of stress incontinence or neuropathic pain.
