Special attention is paid to the pathogen recognition by an array of receptors of innate immunity. Separate part is devoted to the mechanisms of inflammation, including the description of inflammasome.

Second part of a review describes systematically the diseases classified now to the category of autoinflammatory disorders. Current review represents the first systematic summary in a respective field in Czech literature.
