Leaving aside the measurement of blood pressure, the orientation examination of urine is a test strip (paper) for the presence of protein, the most frequently performed examination in a prenatal clinic. We consider the finding of protein in the urine to be a risk of possible complications, starting with urinary tract infections and ending with chronic renal disease.
And it is, of course, an important symptom in the diagnosis of preeclampsia. Proteinuria is of great diagnostic and prognostic importance, yet methods for its detection and quantification are often inaccurate and controversial.
