Introduction: Lornoxicam is a new analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent with efficient action in the treatment of post-surgical pain. Several studies describe its effects in dental surgery, spondylosurgery and gynaecology.
A study of the analgesic effects after minor orthopaedic surgeries has been made as part of this investigation. Method: 50 volunteers used lornoxicam after surgery.
VAS was documented 4 times per day. Rescue medication, dose decreases and adverse events have been monitored.
Subjective evaluation of therapy has been made after treatment. Results: VAS decrease of at least 1PID has been observed after each dose.
The alleviation of pain was continuous, 81% of patients used lower dose until day 3. Only 7% of patients used rescue medication the first two days.
No adverse events have been demonstrated. Conclusion: Lornoxicam could be used as self medication analgesic therapy after minor orthopaedics procedures.
