Cardiovascular diseases are the most common cause of morbidity and mortality in the Czech Republic. This is one of the reasons for the emergence of a medical field dealing with the prevention of these diseases - preventive cardiology.
It turns out that hypertension in adults usually has its roots in childhood. Therefore, attention paid to blood pressure monitoring in children In order to properly treat hypertension, it is essential to measure BP correctly.
Considering this, the idea arose to obtain recent blood pressure values from a larger sample of healthy children and adolescents in the Czech Republic while respecting the current methodological requirements for the measurements. For these reasons, a group of workers was established at the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice, which, in cooperation with clinical workplaces, prepared a project aimed at solving this problem.
