Allergic rhinitis in the autumn

2008

Abstract

Allergic rhinitis is one of the most common diseases that affect people of working age. Its prevalence in the Czech Republic is not exactly known, as the results of individual epidemiological surveys differ significantly [1,2].

According to current surveys, at least 20% of adults and 10% of children suffer from chronic colds in our country. About half of them are systematically treated.

The issue of rhinitis is often underestimated by doctors and patients themselves. However, its danger is not negligible and it is mainly a complication that can have more serious consequences than the cold itself.

The most common and at the same time the most serious complication is bronchial asthma, which is manifested in approximately 40% of patients with chronic rhinitis.
