Abstract

Glomerulonephritis is a heterogeneous group of inflammatory diseases of the glomeruli. Glomerulonephritis (GN) is most often caused by the activation of immunological mechanisms.

They can either be caused by the deposition of external antigens or circulating immunocomplexes in the renal tissue, or the antibody or cellular immune response can be directed against internal antigens (autoimmunity, hypersensitivity). The second type is less common, but more serious.
