Gastroduodenal ulcer in old age is a serious disease. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and H. pylori infections (70% positivity) often contribute to its development due to an imbalance of aggressive and defensive factors.
Clinical symptomatology in polymorbid patients is usually uncharacteristic or completely absent and the disease manifests itself as a serious complication. The treatment of uncomplicated ulcers is conservative, eradication is performed in H. pylori positive individuals.
Ulcer complications are treated endoscopically (bleeding) or surgically - urgent surgery (bleeding, perforation). The occurrence of complications of gastroduodenal ulcer significantly increases the mortality of affected individuals.
