Examination of the degree of dependence for the care allowance based on functional assessment of the elderly
Abstract
The article informs about the medical criteria for assessing the stage dependency care regarding the need of the care benefit according to the social service law. The criteria were designed in accordance with assessment of the Activities of daily living and the principles of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health.
Based on the two-year experience with the new assessment criteria of the function abilities, the model proved efficient and has been an asset to all elderly. In conclusion, the authors emphasize the need to apply a multidisciplinary approach to assessment and evaluation team to expand existing medical assessor practitioner and a social worker by occupational therapist.
Professional occupational therapy evaluation must be simultaneously accompanied by occupational therapy interventions in order to maintain the highest degree of elderly self-sufficiency.
