Between 1933 and 1945 after taking power in Germany by Adolf Hitler fled through Czechoslovakia and Poland to the UK for more than 300 visual artists of different nationalities, but mainly German and Czech (John Heartfield, Kurt Lade, Oskar Kokoschka, Mary Duras, Bedrich Feigl etc. ) the following contribution will deal with the fate of the anti-Nazi oriented group of artists, their artistic activities in the British Isles and the process of adaptation and presentation (self-representation) within British society. The author's contribution will view issues Czechoslovak German and British artists in exile through some approaches theories identities.
