Publication |
2014

Abstract

The details concerning political activities of the Czech journalist Vladimir Sis in neutral Bulgaria (1914-1915) became known to the Czech public thanks to the memoirs of his older brother František Sis ("Kapitoly z činnosti Maffie") published in Národní listy in 1930s. Therefore, the purpose of this publication is to present the political activities of Vladimir Sis in neutral Bulgaria during the period September 1914 - March 1915 through the prism of "Kapitoly...".

The documentary part contains excerpts of the memoirs, translated by the author of the publication from Czech into Bulgarian. Only those chapters related to the fixed topic are included.

The author gives comments and analyzes the documentary part in order to reveal and explain little-known events and to present the main "actors" on the Czech political "scene". The full text of the Memorandum drafted by Vladimir Sis can be found in the XVIIth chapter of the memoirs.

Since the history of the document has been explored in depth 80 years ago by the Czechoslovak non-Marxist historiography, the author not only gives her own comments on the content of the Memorandum, but above all presents the views of the Czechoslovak researchers.
