Abstract
The contribution deals with development of Drahanská highlands. The Drahanská highland is one of the most important "micro-region", which has spread into two provinces (Olomoucký and Jihomoravský regions).
The area of Drahanská highlands was being begun to settle in the 13th century, when the first ecclesiastical and secular domains were established. The article reflected the basic characteristics Drahanská Highlands using by analysis current state and by description of the historical development.
These characteristics can be significantly reflected in the current and potential future development of the micro-region on both, the economic and the social level. Article captures the ambiguity in the concept Drahanská Highlands as a geographical territory and as a spatial unit in the form of micro-region.
The current concept of micro-region denies its historical and geographical essence. On the one hand it could be this situation an opportunity for the "region" Drahanská Highlands (development of the sports field, the emergence of new paths, cross-country ski trails and recreation areas), on the other hand may arise weaknesses whole region Drahanská Highlands.
