Abstract

This article briefly presents and describes typical shapes of the population pyramid. Using examples from various countries it also illustrates certain specific pyramid types.

Quatar was selected as an example of an oil-producing country significantly impacted by migration. Italy is one of the most rapidly aging countries in the world.

The selected examples exhibit only a sampling of the many aspects that can be observed and studied through population pyramids. Careful study of these pyramids can greatly enhance our understanding of the population in any country.
