Publication at Catholic Theological Faculty |
2014

Abstract

The book maps the individual items in the collection in terms of their origins, content and author, with biographic information about the authors that will be interesting also for laymen. Where possible, the book also contains information about the original owner of the book or manuscript.

The authors divided conceptually the studied material into two parts. The first part of this monograph discusses history of development of the historical library of Hospital Kuks in its individual periods (from its beginning in time of František Antonín Špork until the present times).

Then the second part of this monograph describes the most important books about Roman and Canon law, situated in this library. A subchapter in this second part is titled Supplement: Canonist and Romanist collection in Lysa in Moravian land library, because several hundred books with legal and historical topics were temporarily relocated from Lysa nad Labem to Kuks in connection with the sale of the castle in Lysa around the middle of 19th century.
