Abstract
The presented analytical-comparative study forms another contribution in the editorial series of studies "Schooling Abroad"; it has a structure similar to the previous studies. There are 4 basic fields which appear to be essential for Estonian school education: a) curriculum, b) monitoring of school quality and pupil assessment, c) the current sensitive national issue in society and schooling, d) the similarly sensitive issue of language and language learning.
The "domestic" authors present their "insider" view of the development of general education in Estonia over the last 25 years.
