Abstract

The author characterizes social and educational psychology as basic psychological disciplines and presents different domestic and foreign conception of these fields. He delimits the domain of social psychology towards its boarder disciplines which are first of all sociology and cultural anthropology.

He sums up the history of social psychology, presents the orientations in social psychology, and gives the overview of its methods. He deals with key topics of the field, e.g. social interactions, socialization, social cognition, social motivation, attitudes, both ver-bal and non-verbal communication, dyadic interaction, small groups, mass behavior, social psychology of personality, a social psychology in practice.

Educational psychology is presented as both theoretical and applied discipline. Its history is briefly mentioned, as well as different conceptions and definitions of its topic, including relations to other sciences and educational disciplines.

The author discusses the key topics in the field as the process of learning, its conditions, signs, types, including social learning, theories, laws, styles, and special forms. The formation of skills and habits is also presented.

Further, the author occupies himself with education, its principles, conditions and goals, behavioral disorders and their causes, classification, and characteristics of particular behavioral disorders, problems of bullying, relations among teachers and pupils, problems of rewards and punishments, and mental hygiene. He presents relatively extensive both domestic and foreign bibliography covering both the disciplines.
