Abstract
The study confronts ambivalence of artistic and scientific approach to research and use the artificial life stimulations in PC programming. Firstly it summarizes the highlights in the history of artificial life ideas from the hypothesis of von Neumann to the foundation of science of artificial life.
It commemorates the artists entering the realm of artificial life (Paul Brown, William Latham) and tries to show that artistic as well as scientific approaches use the needed useful reduction, which brings both areas closer in their aesthetic and scientific approach getting them to communally shared clearness.
