Abstract
Adult education is an important, in education policy and research practice, however, still rather undeveloped area of the concept of lifelong learning. The aim of this paper is to highlight links between some starting points, which are taken for granted in the area of participation of adults in various types of continuing education, and to point out the specifics of the management of adult education in the Czech Republic (with some comparison with other EU countries).
