Publication at Faculty of Science |
2014

Abstract

This article presents information concerning the potential rupture of dangerous lakes in mountainous Kyrgyzstan, where scientists from Czechia have been heavily involved in research projects. The purpose of this research has focused on assessing and predicting potential threats and, in cooperation with local experts, learning how to anticipate and where possible avoid lake ruptures.

The Adygine Research Station has been established in Kyrgyzstan. It monitors the development of glacial lakes using meteorological, hydrological and glaciological observations.
