Every year there are 7,800 to 8,200 patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the Czech Republic and 3,800 to 4,200 die from the disease. Prevalence, i.e., the number of persons with history of the disease, reached 51,064 in 2011 and thereby increased by 59.4% since 2001.
Furthermore, over 50% of colorectal cancer patients are diagnosed in an advanced stage (clinical stage III and higher), which results in significantly worse prognosis and achieved treatment outcomes.
