Abstrakt
In previous research the concept of the perceptual centres which were supposed to be associated with the onset of a vowel in the stressed syllable has been well established. The research paradigms were often based on adjusting stimuli to perceived isochrony; some investigations with speech-metronome synchronisation were carried out as well.
The present paper is one of the follow-up studies on this experimental design. The general aim was to discover whether the sensation of rhythmicity in Czech depends on the distance of the metronome beat (a representation of a p-centre) from the onset of a vowel in the stressed syllable rather than on the speaker's consistency in the articulation of given words along with periodic pulses.
The results of this study show that the speaker's consistency in the articulation of Czech words along with periodic pulses was more relevant than the exact location of the beats within the words. However, further research on natural speech is needed.
The effect of words should be investigated as well.
