Abstract

The paper deals with media coverage of the popular music in the second half of the sixties on the example of basic characteristics and features of music journalism and its range of periodicals within the official structure of print media using heuristics methods and the oral history research. On one hand the preceding findings of author confirm casual relation between politics and media agenda; on the other hand they show aesthetical aspiration of publics.

In case of totalitarian and culture hegemonic regime the link is revealed in a more provable way and justifies a need for exploring this issue. Then music journalism has been clearly involved in a social life as a mean for establishing public opinions, especially in a next decade.

For that time music journalism has defended itself as a resistant area within official media system in a sense of critical and independent thinking in opposition to mass aesthetical taste in music stemming from communist culture and media policy.
