Development of unemployment in the municipalities of a wide area of Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant 2000-2011
Abstract
The aim of the specialized map is to describe and explain the basic trends in the state of unemployment in a detailed regional differentiation at the level of municipalities in the wide area of Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the period 2000-2011. Job opportunities at the plant, activities associated with its operation, wage levels and structure of employment in the plant, but also in supplier companies, strongly influence the economic level of the wider region.
In case of closure of EDU, the region as a whole would probably come closer to economic characteristics of Znojmo region, which can serve as a reference frame with similar nature of settlement, but without significant dominant employer. The importance of regional centers, particularly the town of Třebíč, would probably also decrease.
