Proofs in plane geometry and splitting the line segment

Abstract

Proofs are neglected part of secondary school mathematics. One of the reasons is the lack of obvious assertions with nontrivial proof.

This paper proposes the use of proofs of claims that a given ruler and compass construction actually divides the segment in a given ratio. In such problems, students can use their skills and to follow the progress of proof.
