Despite its relatively small territory and number of the Slavic population living there, the Lusatia region has become the object of ethnically motivated political visions and activities surprisingly often over the past hundred years. This fact has been insufficiently analysed and interpreted in the academic circles so far.
With respect to the above thesis, five main periods may be pointed out: 1/ after 1918; 2/ between 1945 and 1948; 3/ after 1948; 4/ after 1989; 5/ the current development.
