Abstract
The collaboration among general practitioners (GP) and endocrinologists is important, because hormones influence acrtivity of all human body organs. Early diagnosis of thyroid disorders is advantageous for both - patients and physicians.
Analysis of laboratory findings and frequency of their indication is the first step and condition for successful thyropathy treatment. Specific approach isimportant for pregnant women, old or polymorbid patients and subclinical forms of thyroid disease.
Persons with autoimmune thyroid disease or only with antithyroid antibodies should be followed yearly even if actually the other thyroid tests are within normal range. Ultrasound examination done by experienced doctors points out the nodules, in which fine needle biopsy should be performed.
