Abstract

Hippolyt Guarinoni (1571-1654) was an important physician, artist and writer. As a son of Bartholomeus Guarinonius, the personal physician of the emperor Rudolf II, spent the years 1583-1594 in Prague.

He later included numerous reminiscences in his work. The article aims to call attention to Guarinonius' descriptions of everyday life in Prague, expecially the Jesuit gymnasium and boarding school.
