Pemphigoid belongs to a group of autoimmune diseases, characterised by the presence of autoantibodies against structural components of the dermal-epidermal junction, with the formation of subepithelial blisters. Clinical manifestation is very variable and can be associated with diagnostic delay.
The authors report a case of 83-years-old female with oral mucosa involvement due to mucous membrane pemphigoid and review of the current literature. This case report emphasizes the importance of direct immunofluorescence test as a diagnostic tool.
