The study deals with the function of the legal system in Moravia during settlements of property lawsuits of noblemen in early modern times. This is demonstrated in a particular lawsuit between Jan Šembera and Jan Vácha of Ořechovičky.
Reconstruction of this case enables us to give a picture of the routines practiced by judicial and other authorities during lawsuit settlements concerning the property of noblemen. It demonstrates the approach of the parties to the lawsuit and to respective authorities and their strategies in advancing their own interests within this system.
