Considering rising mean age of pregnant women their morbidity increases during pregnancy, delivery and puerperium. Apparently, we face and in future we will face even more diseases and problems that were extraordinarily rare in younger patients.
An example of such a disease is the stroke. Ischemic or haemorrhagic stroke is an acute serious event that may have the fatal or lifelong impacts on the woman's life.
In most cases, immediate intensive interdisciplinary medical care is needed. Review of literature is supplemented with our own case-report of ischemic stroke developed during total anesthesia during Caesarean section.
